Buyback Information

Get up to 50% of the new text price by selling your books back to the Titan Store!

Reduce the net cost of your textbooks and supply next term students with used books by selling yours back. The Titan Store buys back your new and used books according to the Book Buyback Requirements.

Book Buyback Requirements

  1. The book must be in good condition, as determined by the book buyer:
    • The cover, binding, and pages must not be substantively damaged.
    • Any inserts, including discs, must be included.
    • There must not be excessive highlights or makings.
    • There must be no water damage.
  2. The book has been adopted for the next term and the store needs additional inventory (this results in best buyback price), or a book wholesaler will take the book into their inventory (usually at a significantly lower buyback price).

So come early finals week to get the best possible price!

Book Buyback FAQ

  • How is the buyback price determined?

If the book you are selling will be used at Lane next term, the Titan Store pays 50% of the cost of a new book. If it isn't being used next term, a used-book warehouse may purchase it for their own inventory. The used-book warehouse usually pays between 10% to 40% of the original cost, depending upon demand for that book from other schools.
  • Are there different buyback prices for new and used texts?

No; buyback prices are the same, regardless of whether you bought the book new or used.
  • Who decides what books will be used?

Individual faculty members or groups of faculty members decide which books will be used for each class. The Titan Store works closely with faculty and departments to ensure the book adopter decisions are provided in time for buyback.
  • Why did my friend get one price for a book and I got a different price for the same book?

Either the Titan Store reached its maximum quantity for next term enrollment and the book went on to the wholesaler buyback list, or an adoption was received after buyback started, causing the book to go from the wholesale price to the Titan Store buyback price.
  • Can I call in and find out if you'll buy a book back?

Yes, you can call the Titan Store and provide the book's ISBN to find out if it can be bought back at wholesale prices. However, the only way to know whether it can be bought back at 50% of the new cost is to bring it in and see; this is due to rapidly changing needs.
  • What can I do with a book with no buyback value?

The Titan Store encourages you to check back again during the buyback week, as the list can change when late course sections and textbook adoptions are processed. If your book cannot be sold back to the Titan Store, you can donate it to the Better World Books donation, offer it for sale through ASLCC Book Consignment, or try to sell it back the following term.

The Titan Store also wants your calculators!

The Titan Store buys back TI-83+ and TI-84+ calculators, according to the Calculator Buyback Requirements.

Calculator Buyback Requirements

  1. The calculator must be in good condition, as determined by the buyer:
    • Batteries must be included by the seller.
    • Instruction book and/or disc must be included.
    • Calculator-to-calculator cable must be included. For TI-84+, USB cable must be included as well.
  2. The math department supports the calculator.

Be advised that textbooks listed and their current buyback price are not a guarantee that the Titan Store will buy back your book. When the Titan Store's quota is met, the wholesale value will be offered, if one exists. This information is being provided to you simply as a courtesy.
